Money Advice Service The Money Advice Service can provide free, clear, unbiased money advice to help you make informed choices.  They can help manage your money day-to-day, plan for monthly outgoings and can explain money in an easy to understand way.

Citizens Advice Bureau

Citizens Advice BureauDealing with money issues can sometimes be off-putting, but if you do not understand how things like credit or mortgages work, you could end up losing out financially or getting yourself deep in debt. The Citizens Advice Bureau can give you free information you need to make the right choices, including help to deal with your debt problems, how to avoid losing your home and how to get your finances back into shape.  Here you can find details of your local CAB centre.

Legal Aid

Legal Aid can provide you with free specialist advice from legal advisers on issues including: benefits and tax credits; debt, education; housing; employment; and family problems.

StepChange

If you are worried about debt then StepChange Debt Charity will help you find the best solution. The service is free and you do not have to provide your name. All the advice you receive will be based on your actual situation.

Money Steps

Money StepsMoney Steps is a free and easy to use online debt advice and money management service from National Debtline. It will provide you with personalised, positive steps to help you get back in control of your finances.

Money Saving Expert

Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert free site has money-saving advice on anything you can think of.

Shelter Cymru

Shelter CymruShelter Cymru is Wales’ people and homes charity.  Here you can find housing advice including arrears and court action – Advice Surgeries in the North Powys area and Advice Surgeries in the South Powys area.

Credit Unions

Credit Unions are a cross between a co-operative and a bank. They are set up by people with a common interest, such as where they live or work, and offer low-interest loans, savings and sometimes bank accounts. They’ve been around since the 1940s but in recent years have become increasingly popular among both savers and borrowers. The Red Kite Credit Union operates in Central Powys, and the Hafren Credit Union operate in North Powys.
